In order to foster a more efficient use of resources and to motivate regular course attendance, the latter of which our department believes to be essential for developing strong mathematical skills, the following rule applies to the courses Math 119, 120, 117, 118, 219, 260.
Starting with the 2026-2027 Spring semester (2026-2 Semester), the Department of Mathematics will not allow a student to enroll in a course that is offered in its irregular semester if the student’s previous letter grade in this course is NA.

For example,
- Student X has taken Math 117/119/219 in the Fall semester, and his/her grade is NA. Student X cannot take Math 117/119/219 in the Spring semester.
- Student Y has taken Math 118/120 in the Spring semester, and his/her grade is NA. Student Y cannot take Math 118/120 in the Summer/Fall semester.
- Student Z is in a department whose curriculum includes Math 260 in the Fall semester. Student Z has taken Math 260 in the Fall semester, and his/her grade is NA. Student Z cannot take Math 260 in the Spring semester.
- Student T is in a department whose curriculum includes Math 260 in the Spring semester. Student T has taken Math 260 in the Spring semester, and his/her grade is NA. Student T cannot take Math 260 in the Fall semester.
This rule will be implemented starting with the beginning of the 2026-2027 Spring semester (2026-2 Semester).
For example, a student who receives an NA grade in Math 119 in the 2026-2027 Fall semester will not be able to take Math
119 in the 2026 2027 Spring semester.
